We are pleased to inform you that our partner in Georgia, Be Parent, has officially announced that the situation regarding surrogacy for foreign citizens in Georgia remains unchanged for the time being.
In June 2023, the Prime Minister of Georgia, followed by the Minister of Health, made a public announcement that surrogacy and IVF would be restricted to Georgian citizens only from January 1, 2024.
Since then, Nordic Surrogacy, along with partners and lawyers, has been working to gather more information about the circumstances and consequences.
For a law to come into effect in Georgia, it requires approval in multiple sessions in parliament and ultimately the president’s signature. The proposed law faced disagreement in parliament, preventing approval. Therefore, the legislation regarding surrogacy in Georgia currently remains unchanged.
